South Korean TV network apologizes over Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony broadcast - The Japan Times

com 23 Jan 2014 01/23 A live event for the opening ceremony of Olympic swimming came up dry, when an official at NHK broadcaster TVN apologized before broadcast about its controversial decision to broadcast the Korean version. It followed hours of complaints since April 23 when NHK announced on April 1 a 30 minute extra special for viewers who watch on television. Nihon Haitensei reported Sunday it would replace some of its programming due to this mistake at 3 p.m., making it impossible for some local news shows and broadcasts to take pictures following broadcasts by stations such as TV Aichi or Yurushima's national public TV as no Korean language was needed in the commentary track. But some local stations have begun airing images of NHK footage on-screen showing scenes set in the Asian country during the 2014 Summer Games.
